About Us

Julie Goleby, Director
Training in the Tropics was established in the Atherton Tablelands in 2014 to provide learning opportunities for this inspiring rural regional community.  

Our vision is to Enrich, Learn and Grow together.  

We aim to provide quality learning opportunities that encourage personal growth and lifelong learning.   We wish to inspire and empower participants to grow to their full potential, gain confidence and excel in their personal life journeys. 

We will achieve this through our dedication to provide a professional and courteous service, exceptional customer relations and commitment to business objectives. In teaching we will be maintain knowledge and understanding of how people learn, and provide a nurturing and supportive environment for all to succeed.


About Julie

Julie has facilitated many MYOB and Microsoft Computer Skill Set Courses in Atherton and Mareeba both publicly, and for community and Government agencies.  Courses are facilitated implementing effective instructional design and inclusive teaching incorporating values and ethics. She facilitates achievement of desired learning outcomes for all participants through innovative training solutions and modern assessment practices.  Many inclusive teaching strategies are utilised from various resources that assist in the delivery of brilliant and inspiring lessons.

Having completed her Certificate 4 in Workplace Trainer / Assessor qualification originally in 2000, Julie has maintained valid certification for training and assessment since.  She previously worked with Tropical North Institute of TAFE in as the Workplace Trainer for the Business Services division. When this contract ceased, she worked for five years with Learning Network Queensland facilitating accredited and non-accredited courses including Certificate 1 in Information Technology, Certificate 2 in Business Administration, and a plethora of short courses.  

This led to continuous study to maintain teaching competency in business qualifications including a Diploma of Business, a Teaching Sustainability Skill Set, and Certificates in Information Technology.  More recently she successfully completed a Diploma in Accounting to supplement knowledge in maintenance of accounting systems, reporting on business performance, and preparing and interpreting financial statements.

With a passion for Vocational Education, whilst teaching part-time, Julie also successfully completed a Bachelor of Adult Vocational Education over the following years successfully achieving a double major in Adult and Vocational Teaching, and Vocational Education in Schools.  She performed a 4 week vocational placement at Atherton State High School in 2013 and obtained Qld College of Teacher Registration. 

She utilises teaching expertise to implement a vast variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs and learning styles within the diversity of learners.  

As an advocate of lifelong learning, and though dedication and compassion, she always receives positive feedback from participants in her programs.
